My version of the seatbelt sling. Using 2” wide backpack nylon webbing for the pouch, nylon mason line for the whipping at pouch ends, and 550 paracord for the rest.

I like to tie two stopper knots 0.5” apart on the release cord to bracket the top of my index finger. I also use as scaffold knot for the retention loop so I can snug up the loop tight on my middle finger.

So far made a 19” version for inside the house, a 29.25” as my standard length, and a 39.25” for my long range, underhand (any longer and it will hit the ground). Pic is of the standard length.

Not my best braiding work, or the best material, but I wouldn't say it's a waste of time. The red stuff is just wax.

I'm doing Eric two disservices with this post: I'm spoiling the type of sling he'll be getting for SITH, and I'm showing that I haven't been working on his SITH sling. Sorry man!

That being said, I just finished this after spending ten months really learning and refining macrame. I'm really proud of it, but there are three things I wish I did differently; two are mistakes with the knotting, one is measuring incorrectly and not being able to make the release cord the way I wanted.

Material is 1.0 mm PE fishing line (basically Dyneema from my understanding).

Whoa whoa! Amazing stuff! Incredible craftsmanship there. The zig-zag ribbing on the fingerloop must have been a nightmare to keep that straight!

And don't worry at all about SITH, it's always been a yearlong event Grin

And if it comes out looking anything like that...it's worth twice the wait!

I might actually take you up on this! I've been scouring the internet, and we really just can't get esparto in the US(at least not for sane prices - $115 shipping). At this point I've given up on esparto until I can get over there. I even considered shipping to Ibiza while I'm there for the competition, but apparently even shipping to Ibiza is pretty expensive(~$50) which I guess makes sense given it's an isolated island.

So anyways, lately I've been drowning my sorrows in whatever material I can get my hands on here. Cotton, nylon(mason line) and some dyneema fibers I liberated from some 6mm dyneema that is just too thick to use for anything else.

I'm pretty happy with the cotton and dyneema, but the mason line has a weird twist memory to it. I think because the fibers are so incredibly slippery, when they're bound up by the braid it lets the individual braid strands shift between each other. But since the braid is tight it can't actually loosen so it stays clamped down in the new position. It's easy to fix by just running the sling through your fingers while loading ammo as you normally would, but I imagine during windup and powerstroke this could lead to some weird twist. Cracks great though 💥💥💥

You can definitely be proud of this macramee art work. I really like the look of your sling and it also looks very functional. A while ago I made a simple wristband with a simple macramee knot. When I look at your sling I feel like I have to get deeper into this art to use it for sling making.

Did you use a "slingstone hitch" in your sling

This is my new sling I just came out with. What do you guys think about a sling with a pouch this small? The sling weighs only 11.34 grams. It is supposed to be for small ammo that bigger pouches just can't hold, or are to heavy to feel the ammo. Any feedback would be appreciated. Made with waterproof Faux leather. 275 paracord. PET braided sleeving for the release cord protection and for a more comfortable finger loop.

Looks pretty good! Nice and clean. I'm a fan of the butterfly pouch style like that for inconsistent size/shape ammo.

Your release cord protection isn't going to do much good where it is now though - the highest wear spot is always the spot closest to the ammo, then decreases as you go down the release cord. In most cases it's only the first inch or two that gets heavy wear, and you don't have any protection on that very first part of the loop. You'll want to extend the sleeve down onto the inside part of the loop or that'll lead to early cord failure.

When the ends of the pouch are brought together at the loops, is there a reason you didn't alternate the side that's on top? Just curious if a specific side (the lower or higher side) of the pouch is intended to be the "front".
