That looks really good! There are only so many things one can do to an Aussie style sling but he's managed something that isn't just a Pan Clone  Smiley

Thank you for review Luka! Appreciate it.. i made my slings from 4-4,5 mm thick leather, i cut something about 0,7-1mm of leather for protection the cord. This is waxed paracord 750 really tight braided.. it gives really great accuracy and control of the sling.. wax also protects the sling and make it more durable. Paracord is best for me, if it is hairy, i just use lighter and fix it simply. It can last for years.. and then you can rebraid it.. leather will last forever..  Grin

With that sling i can be very accurate, you can check my youtube, where is have some uncut throwing sessions on balearic target, pans, vases etc.

Luka, thank you for your sling, cant wait to throw some rocks with that dyneema beast.  Grin

I saw the preview and was really looking forward to this...although even for buhurt I'm not sure it was a good idea Grin

I guess we'll see when you post the whole video, but glad it wasn't me!

When the guys and I play ancient combat with a sling and tennis balls, shields often break and helmets can hardly withstand the blows of the ball. A stone could easily shatter bones through armor. It's good that everyone is still alive.

Six simple slings, Easter gifts for family. I really like using this NRS cam strap webbing for the pouches. It has a flat strip of material woven into the center of it, a sort of strap within the strap, that gives it some extra rigidity and helps make it very tough. Had good luck with it so far.

Oo yeah that stuff looks real nice!

Do you have a source for bulk nrs webbing, or do you just harvest them from a ratchet strap kit and repurpose the hardware for something else?

I think it's cool, as long as your taking the possible precautions for safety.  I did shield and stones a while back, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSp7AtQKoiQ.  The largest stone was 499 grams.  I was just slinging them up in the air, so couldn't get a ton of speed.  20 m/s was basically what I could get.

Got to build them stronger then. Wink

@Wide Right - I've seen people do that before.  Great idea!  The sling lineup looks awesome! Thumbs Up

Thanks!

All of that webbing was taken from a single 20ft strap I had left over from a previous project, which I decided to cut down anyway to repurpose for attaching stuff to my camping backpack. That gave me like 15 or so feet left over, so I started using that for slings. Made at least 10 with it so far, and I still have plenty left! Seems like good pouch material to me. Cups the stone just the same as any other split pouch, but upon release it feels like the added rigidity may help the stone to fly right out of it just a little smoother. I def recommend giving it a shot!

Where have you been sourcing that?  I haven't found any easily available.

Heh, great question! I also had some difficulty finding it.

Here's where I ended up getting it, which was the cheapest option with shipping included. For some reason, there's nobody in the US that stocks this, so shipping is almost always more than the product itself - plus all the tariff fun lately.

https://pacificnetandtwine.com/products/212901ft-ms?variant=34545549115548

The only thing I'd advise is that their online stock is not accurate. I went back and forth with them a few times on different sizes before they finally told me what they had in stock so I could pick Grin

Fortunately the fibers are the same size no matter the final rope size, so you can get shorter lengths of thicker stuff to result in the same amount of fibers(as long as your rope length is at least as long as you'll need for your slings).

Then of course you have to untwist the fibers from the rope(see my thread here for a fast way to do that: https://slinging.org/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1754151194).
