Going to see RUSH!!!
Oct 2nd, 2010 at 3:52pm

I'm planning to go out tonight to meet some friends and see RUSH perform in concert! Cheesy

They've been one of my top favorite bands for more than 20 years now -- and they've been around for 40!

I've seen them perform live somewhere around six or seven times. I don't know how much longer they'll be around (although it's easy to have faith in their staying power), so I've made this last-minute decision to go to the show.

So, are you a RUSH fan?

Sorry, never even heard of them, are they popular outside the U.S?
Miss that option in your poll.

They hail from Toronto, Canada ("YYZ"), so yes, you could say they're popular outside the U.S. Wink

I had a friend in England who was a huge fan of theirs, and so was another friend of his.

To put it another way, they actually have a DVD out from their concert tour in RIO DE JANEIRO!

That's not even English-speaking, and they filled stadiums.

KS, what is your country? I'm surprised that you haven't heard of them.

IŽve lived in Iceland for the last fourteen years, before that Holland.
IŽll have a look and see if i can find something of them on youtube.

Tom Sawyer is one of their tremendously popular fan anthems.

Check out "Closer to the Heart" -- a personal favorite. Also, "Time Stand Still," "Mission," "YYZ," "The Spirit of Radio," and "Fly By Night."

I will admit that the albums they've done from the mid-'90s on have really done zilch for me, but their '70s and '80s work is simply excellent. Some of it qualifies as sublime, in my opinion.

They did some "epic rock" stuff back then. Listen to "2112," and the stuff from "A Farewell to Kings." Just amazing.  Oh, and "Hemispheres" -- which chronicles the war between the followers of Apollo and Dionysus! It's genius!

I can say that they are popular and famous, here in Finland(scandinavia) most of my friends dig it and me too. I like the album "feedback" where they play old classics made by other famous artists.

lol I think they might be winding you up jeffrey Smiley

Not a huge fan myself, but do like the temples of syrix album (or whatever the album is called that track is off).

I do hear quite a lot as one of the dj's on planetrock is a huge fan and plays rush at the slightest opportunity.

Cheesy  "Feedback" is an excellent album! I love their version of The Who's "The Seeker"! They do it better than The Who!

C_A, that album is called "2112" and it is absolutely awesome!

They're one of my favorite bands ever, even though I think they should stick to instrumentals, or at least not let Geddy sing. Still, they're amazing. I think my favorite song of theirs is Red Barchetta. Or maybe Where's My thing.

If you want to see something amusing, search for Geddy Lee toboggan video.
