Any other Christian brothers want to help me out? Because of the David and Goliath story I kinda figured I would not be on my own on this one.
You aren't alone in being Christian, nor are you alone in being a creationist. We have many on this site. You are however the only person that I know of who believes in a young earth.

If the credibility of the Bible is at question there is evidence that says otherwise, one example everyone knows the basic story of Jesus (in a nutshell) that he was born in a manger, preformed several miracles , died on the cross , rose 3 days later, etc . However few people realize how much prophesy was involved . Listed below is a list of fufillments ,prophosey references ,and the probablity of it happening.
His Birth in Bethlehem form the tribe of Judah - (Micha 5:2) ,(Genisis 49:10) - 1 in 2,400...
The probablity AGAINST these 17 prediedictions is
1 chance in 480,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000
or
1 chance in 480 billion x 1 Billion x 1 Trillion
In other words there is only one chance in 480 billion x 1 Billion x 1 Trillion that these Old Testament prophets could have accurately have predicted these seventeen specific prophecies about the life, death, and resurection of Jesus Christ.
No contest.

Also here is a list (animals and chromosones) of how animals should have evolved according to evolution.
Penicilum 2 , fruit fly 8 , tomato 12, house fly 12, garden pea 14, honey bee 16, leattuce 18, carrot 20, marijuana 20, corn 20 , kidney bean 22, redwood 22, opossum 22, frog 26, onion 32, alligtor 32, apple 34, starfish 36, cat 38, soybean 40 , wheat 42, bat 44 , human 46, tobaco 48, chimp 48, amoeba 50, cotton 52, silk worm 56, cow 60, horse 64, duck 78, dog 78, chicken 78, turkey 82, sweet potato 90, gold fish 94, carp 100, white ash 138, and finaly the ultimate life form............. a fern with 480 chromosones !
Number of chromosomes is not a measure of organismal complexity.
Quote:Shared sequences of apparently non-functional DNA are a major line of evidence for common descent. Pseudogene sequences appear to accumulate mutations more rapidly than coding sequences due to a loss of selective pressure. This allows for the creation of mutant alleles that incorporate new functions that may be favored by natural selection; thus, pseudogenes can serve as raw material for evolution and can be considered "protogenes".

Also Bikewer do you honostly believe that "In the Beginning there was nothing and than nothing exploded and became the awesome universe we have today."
Is nothing and an explosion harder to believe than nothing and then light? Objectively they sound pretty similar...

Evolution is a fairy tail ( frog + kiss = prince , evolution says that frog + time = prince)
No, it doesn't.

\ Scientist have found that at the current erosion rate the montains will erode every 17 million years and if the earth was billions of years old the mountains should have been eroded several times now
That's not correct Dan. Mountains and rocks do erode over time, but the reason that we have mountains now is due to plate tectonics.
The pressure between the plates colliding with each other constantly make new mountain chains, while others sink into the ocean. This takes millions of years.
The ocean floor is covered in moutains, canyons, cliffs, plains, etc. Nearly every topography terrain on the surface can be found on the ocean floor.
You are both right. Mountains do erode, and plate tectonics does make new crust. The specific principle of plate tectonics that deals with this is seafloor spreading, which combined with the natural movement of the plates combines to renew the mountains over time. The places where the plates are separating are called
divergent boundaries. In fact it does too good a job, and the Himalayas are
still growing. Another factor is that the Jet stream (which shifts and moves periodically) carries dust across the surface of the earth, and repositions it eroding one spot and building up sediment in other areas before it shifts and repositions the sand/dust all over again.

And you also did not take consideration of the Flood which caused massive amounts of erosion creating many of the mountains we have today, a more recent example is the mount St. Hellens explosion, look it up and you will see how little time it takes to change earths landscape.
Best i can determine Noah lived in the area where the Dead Sea now is and the great flood encompassed an area twice the current size of the Dead Sea. It's not quite global, but still pretty darn huge. Mt. St. Hellens was a pretty huge explosion that radically reduced the mountain to rubble, but it works both ways. Mountains can be built up and and destroyed.

As one who is rather widely read in the sciences and evolution in particular, as well as having been an committed atheist for at least 40 years....
I believe that the Bible is a creation myth of a primitive group of nomads. I have a big encyclopedia of mythology at home. It's full of creation myths...Dozens of them from people all over the world. One is as good as the other as a narrative tale, and none need be taken seriously.
For the purpose of debate can we say that the beginning of Genesis is a creation myth/story and that the Bible as a whole is a written history filled with their mythic/religious interpretations for the events which happened to the nomads? If we don't it makes this less debatable, and I really don't want this thread to be locked for fighting. It's a very rare case when people refrain from insulting each other before now.
