Dyed New Zealand Flax with bark-tanned deer leather. I actually started running out of blue fibers, so I had to change the pattern to be able to finish the sling, but I quite like the way it turned out. It has a pretty clean release. I just wish I could have made the pouch strands a bit wider

Very beautiful! I love the craftsmanship. I hope my SITH sling doesn't disappoint   Cheesy

I guarantee you it will not!

I've just been really enjoying ramping up the effort level put into slings. I have so many slings that are similar now, it seems like some stylish and different style ones are the way to go.

Sounds like you need to get rid of some. Feel free to donate 5 to my kids, in return I got a real funky all natural fibre one that you can have. Smells a bit like potatoes, but you can probably wash that right out.

Great success !!!!

Whipping laid untop a 3 strand retention cord braided from loose fibre
This makes the sling much stiffer, stable and responsive to the wrist without having to resort to ultra thick cords or extreme tight unaerodynamic square braids, instead its round and all naturel !!!

Say good bye to cords twisting around each other while twirling...

Thats a rubber baseball for reference

I will admit that is a great idea.  Grin

I've been meaning to try a different method but not sure how to do it. Might have to give this a try first.

Outstanding! I agree, that is a great idea. Seeing it in action would be welcome.

I am doing this on the split pouch instead of leather protection, much better and easier to apply, replace or fix.
I was thinking of a sling core made by cords (not braided for minimal stretch) and whipping around them to keep the cords together, I did a short sample and didnt like that it would take too much time to do the whole length and added mass without adding breaking strength (performance over durability).
Whipping is great protection I dont understand why there aren't more split pouches with whipping protection.
