Very simple paracord sling but I have trusted it for over a year now and has never failed me. It is my first "true" sling.
Before that I spent a year using one made of regular twisted rope.

I like the minimalist designs, I gave up on separate pouches long ago, they just don't last with the big rocks I like throwing.

Have you considered weaving through 5 strands instead of 3 to get a wider pouch?

Not at all yet.
But it sounds intriguing.
Is it possible though? I'm thinking it might be as good to make the 3 strands longer and then convey that into width.

Thanks.
I like it because it works and because you can manufacture a sling with nothing but paracord in little under an hour.
I don't really care to fiddle with braiding besides using paracord.

My attempts at a split pouch sling using the same minimalist measures have been ok so far and mostly aimed at throwing tennis balls.
One consisted of two strands  attached  to a ring of cord. This worked ok with tennis balls but I had to make sure to place the it right lest it fall out.

Now I am experimenting with 3 paracords braided together for a pouch.

I made some very simple heavy duty slings for the boys. We don't have paracord here, but it's a similar thicker rope. I just undid the braiding on half of the rope, split all the lines and the core into two groups, braided a few inches like a split pouch, then cut out the core and braided all the rest together again. Basically unbreakable.

They use them when we go out slinging rocks.

Dyed New Zealand Flax with bark-tanned deer leather. I actually started running out of blue fibers, so I had to change the pattern to be able to finish the sling, but I quite like the way it turned out. It has a pretty clean release. I just wish I could have made the pouch strands a bit wider

That really is something else. I know the fact that you gathered, processed and dyed the fibers yourself shouldn't affect how I see it but it just makes it more beautiful to me. If you get a chance to make a video of you using it I'm sure none of us would be opposed to watching it lol.

Very pretty that one, I agree with Morphy that it adds to it that you processed your own cord too.

It's all about the experimentation though Cheesy I do think with most natural courage it needs processing and twining or braiding to get the most strength or of it. I've been amazed at how strong the nettle twine I've made is.

Question.  Were you throwing lefty, or was that a flip of the video?
