Never tasted nettle tea but got my fill of nettle soup as a kid(which is not as horrible as it may sound).  I have studied the Diego video and pictures of balearic slings during the vinter an could make a better sling now than last summer.
BTW one of those had its release cord tip breaking once, but I simply unbraided the rest a bit, added more grass and re-braided the tip.  Now that is field repair.
Two summers ago I made a short rope from nettle fibers and thought that it should be possible to braid a sling from fibers without making individual strands first, but I was not aware of the Diego video then...

Not a bad looking PJ sling you made there, much better then the second one I made. I primarily use that style of sling, one is always in my pocket. I do have a suggestion though. The weave looks a bit loose, it's not a big deal but I think you will find that the weave starts to shift to one side after hard throws. To change this during the end of the weaving process take a tool, I use an all, and push the weave back to the starting lines. This way you will be able to squeeze a few more threads in making it a totally solid pouch.

For refference on a 7 inch pouch I have 38 passes.


Before Aussie invented the Seatbelt Sling and PJ wrote the tutorial on how to make it the PJ sling was the primary sling that I gave away.

I was searching for some tools in my shed and found several old slings. I thought I would share this one as it was my favorite for a long time.

It's an Apache-style sling about 30 inches long.  After finding it I had to take it for a spin. I set some small 2-liter bottle size boards in front of my backstop and began hurling some rocks. Two boards died today from about 15-20 yards, out of probably 20 shots. So nothing to write home about. But it brought back some good memories and I thought I would share my good "hunting" with you guys.

I like the pouch.
