I just went out with one of those grass slings, and gave it a light work-out. As it was made in July, the grass is rather dry now, and therefore the braiding has become rather loose. But It still worked, and held together, through some easy throws.
If the grass had been allowed to dry #first#, the result would probably be more lasting in the long time, but when you want a sling NOW....

So it's possible to make thinner cords with them. I was very surprised. The sling is as fast as my paracord ones. What kind of plant are yours made of? Some grass also? Doesn't the colour fade into brownish?

Sorry, no idea what kind of grass. What kind of people know such things, anyway Wink

(Please do not answer, it is grass-professors, right?) Wink

There are lot of different kinds of grass growing around here, I just choose something that was long and appeared though.

Picture taken of my grass slings a couple of minutes ago. They have faded into light green with a little brown in-between.

Its a doddle. Here is Ray Mears in two videos on the subject:

You can use the rolling technique on ordinary string, making it twice as thick. Try that first, then graduate to using harvested fibres.
