if a primitive type from the mountains was even going to go near a turtle, they would maybe make some stew, but the real prize would be the shell. shells were pretty prized even in the times of the american settlers. they were sometimes used as semi-directional lanterns by tossing the belly and using the shell to put a candle in, hanging from something.
if you are really interested in finding out about something, i suggest doing a google search, and then coming here for tested theories, tips, etc. usualy you get better, more helpful responses if you ask specific questions, like about a certain recipe and the like. just a hint.
