It would be great to make a bulletproof transparent protection for the camera to make a slow-motion video of the flight of different projectiles. In this video, there is no protection and a leather biconic ball flew very close to my phone. But this time I was lucky, I didn't hit him.

Wow looks like a great time! I hope to join next time.

It looks like all the lead ammo was biconical? Have you ever tried the more flattened almond shape that seems to have been common in Roman times?

I remember reading an account that those fly further, though the writer had no idea why. I can attest that they fly well, but I've never been able to throw them in a place that had a chance of finding where they landed.

No, I haven't tried them. I've been meaning to though. There's still lots of experimentation that could be done.

I've been away from the forum for a few months and didn't notice this post.

As I understand it, you all tried the netted design?
How did those slings perform?

I would also like to know how that Primal long range sling performed? It looks beautiful.

I had wanted to try your netted design since the moment i saw it months ago. It is no doubt an extremely effective long range design.

Excellent torsional stability, narrow and dense braided cords with very little air resistance, and a soft supple pouch that securely holds the projectile and allows for quick disengagement with consistent alignment. I was skeptical of the button release at first but as soon as i threw it a couple times it felt very comfortable.

My only downside was that i'm not used to a single, non tightening loop and the slightly different hand/finger work that requires. I had troubles aligning the spiral as a result and they tended to drop to the right. The primal sling on the other hand is constructed in style i am more familiar with and ended up being easier to adapt to. Purely a personal technique thing.

There are two cons to the primal sling for me. The pouch is small and slippery (positives in a way) and doesn't like to hold the lead glandes we had. Thats why i switched to yours for those. The other thing is that the single strand release cord is so thin that it will wear through before the braided ones would. Though if you only used it with glandes or smooth stones that reduces that issue.

Overall, this trip i preferred primal's design, but don't have enough experience with either to say anything definitive. You work best with what you're used to and i'm more used to that style.

I primarily used one of my own making - a blatant copy of larry bray's design with a slightly larger slit to allow for golf balls/plastic glandes.

I did try yours and also really liked the stiffness of the cords for how thin and long they were. I've worked a lot with dyneema and it's surprising to see it maintain that stiffness even after a lot of use! The main reason I didn't stick with it was the finger loop - I prefer mine quite tight on the finger because I release with a fully open hand. Without that I tend to lose the sling off my finger, but even when I don't I find myself compensating to keep it on my finger and that throws things off.
