It looks like all the lead ammo was biconical? Have you ever tried the more flattened almond shape that seems to have been common in Roman times?

I remember reading an account that those fly further, though the writer had no idea why. I can attest that they fly well, but I've never been able to throw them in a place that had a chance of finding where they landed.
