Hi guys,
It's not exactly news that Meta/Facebook/Instagram collects and shares all manner of data. Discord is heading the same way and there are already issues with AI moderation, being forced to provide biometrics and personal information etc.
I'm no tinfoil hat wearer, but it would be nice if there was a space to discuss slinging and other hobbies that isn't ridden with trackers and privacy breaches. While this Forum has been (and will continue to be) a mainstay in the slinging community, it does have a few limitations, particularly regarding chatting.
Without wanting to replace anything, I have found what I think to be a good solution. I've started a slinging community with a service called Zulip. Their privacy setup/policy is solid and the user interface will familiar to both forum and discord users. Each channel (for eg, "Tutorials") can be chatted in much like discord/chatrooms, as well as sorted further into topics like things are here on the forum, with images/vids/docs also able to be shared. Once we have a decent amount of users, Zulip support will be happy to grant us additional storage space (up to 5GB per user) at no extra chargre, or we can think about self-hosting.
Here is the invitation link:

Zulip is free and can be used as an app or on PC.
(I don't have any affiliation with them, I just like the service)
