Hello from Germany

Hi everyone 🙂

I‘m Matthias from Germany (region Eifel) and new to this community.

I had my first time slinging when I was about 14 years old. We made holidays in an Iron Age museum in Denmark and the person from the leatherworkshop in this museum showed me how to make a leather pouch and how to sling. She‘d shown me the under hand swing and with a little practice, I was able to shoot very far distances, but never got pracice in aiming on a specific target.
After a few years I stopped slinging so far.

And now, about 10 years later, a friend of mine came along with building a sling from paracord and I was totally hooked in slinging again!  🥳
I did a little research on YouTube and internet aswell (that’s how I found my way here) and I fell into a rabbit hole 😅

Now I have made a spliced dyneema sling and I started to braid a Balearic inspired sling from linden tree bark.
And I tried out different types of shooting, there are so good tutorials on YouTube! So I get much better results on my shooting in very short time now.
I think there waits a lot more for me 🙂

If you have any questions, please ask!
I will show you some fotos of my slings soon

Kind regards from Germany
Matthias

Hello, Mattias! Yes, it was very interesting to see a sling made of linden bark. I also wanted to use this kind of material. So far, I've only made slings from nettles, yucca leaves, and coconut fibers that I found by the sea. I think linden bark should also make a good fiber for weaving.
