Hello! Ive been slinging for 3 weeks and am obsessed with it!
I've built 2 slings, a paracord rock bag, and paracord ranger beads so far.
I've always loved throwing things (any kind of balls, rocks, etc.) and my background in water polo has helped translate into picking up slinging quickly. After about 3-4 hours of practice I was mostly slinging rocks in the general direction I was aiming, and surprised by the power I had with each throw!
Also, I've been surprised by how much fun it has been to build slings out of paracord : )
I discovered slinging from Pan Slings Instagram posts. From the first post I saw, I was fascinated and wanted to throw rocks with super human speeds. After I watched another Pan Sling video about how to do the figure 8 throwing technique by imagining holding a stick as you go through the throwing motion I could picture it clearly in my head and bought a $12 sling off amazon (which i quickly replaced after a few sessions).
After a couple weeks, I went to the lake and was astonished by my long distance throws as I aimed for a buoy 130 yards away, and was throwing large rocks at least 115 yards. I had so much fun I threw out my arm and let it rest for about a week... still haven't recovered fully because I just cant resist slinging!
Any ways, I love that I have a new hobby that is challenging, allows me to build things, and gets me outside in nature.
You can catch me in the woods, or on the shore of Lake Tahoe slinging rocks at buoys!
