I got the dates from Channing for the
Down South Sling Tournament 3. It's going to be
May 1 - 3. I'll post some other stuff a bit later and new details as we get them. I just wanted to get the dates up for anyone who needs to make plans for time off work, flights, etc.
Hope to see everyone who's been going and some new faces too!

Adding some general information. Some of this is based on last year, so might not be definite for this year. When there details that are certain I'll make sure they're noted as such.
If you're flying in, don't go to New Orleans. Fly into Lafayette. It's closer and you also won't need to deal with New Orleans traffic. It's a small airport though. It's literally like 4 gates. So if you would normally have a direct flight to NO, you might need to jump through another city to hit Lafayette. Still worth it in my opinion. But do as you will.
The event is three days, but the main competition stuff is on Saturday. So that's technically the only day you really need to be there if you want to compete. Friday is a day for playing around and doing some practice competitions. Last year we also laid out the sling golf holes on Friday. Lot's of slinging and more relaxed pace. Saturday when the actual games are happening, it can get a little hectic (don't get me wrong, still a ton of fun). And Sunday we'll get into whatever Channing gets lined up. Last year was sling golf on an actual golf course. That was a lot of fun! And then pizza, beer, and more slinging until everyone headed out.
Jacob, who you'll be familiar with if you watch the Online Slinging Competition, does all the cooking. Some things from the past have been crayfish boil, jambalaya, fried catfish... Everything that guy cooks up is absolutely amazing!
All the sling games are done at the park where the LA guys do their OSC rounds. It's actually a bit difficult to find when searching online. Searches for 'Baldwin park' don't really hit it. Here's the address of the park entrance: 301 Charenton Rd, 70544. So if you're coming, save that in your phone somewhere for GPS. The towns (Baldwin and Franklin) are very small, so once you've driven through once, it's pretty easy to find your way around.
Last year the hotel was the Cypress Bayou Casino Hotel. It's a good place that's nice and close. There's another hotel in Franklin that's cheaper. But at that one you're pretty much guaranteed to come across a cockroach or two in your room. Not the most horrible thing in the world, but not fun either. Channing will usually let us know which hotel we should go to. Last year he covered part of the cost for the rooms too. I don't know if that will happen again this year or not.
Confirmed that we'll be at the Cypress Bayou Casino Hotel.
I'll check with Channing and see if rooms should be booked ahead of time. Last year we didn't need to because he had the rooms blocked off for us.Channing said he has 6 rooms blocked off, but the hotel will have more available. If you're planning to go and have any concerns about getting a room, just reach out to him.
