We had 3 new people come this year and I'm sure they will all agree it is worth the time and effort to make the trip.
I am one. I agree. I had a tremendous time. I scored poorly, but I took home a Diana on the 20m and I'm super pumped.
I got to see a lot of different slinging techniques in person, got to see a ton of different sling making techniques, purchased a sling from Channing, ate a tremendous amount of good food, went back to the hotel every night feet sore, back sore, type of situation where you just get in, take a shower, and go to bed to get up the next one to do it all over again.
It was absolutely positively worth it, even if it was, as I've been telling
outsiders... "Just a group of guys throwing tennis balls in the park."
You really felt the comarderie, you felt among your people. If you've ever been trying to tell someone in your local area about slinging and their eyes glaze over and you feel just a slight bit disconnect, it was an entirely different experience there. There was not a single time where it felt like you could go into too much detail or lose someone when talking about slings, ammo, techniques.
Just a really, really good time.
But I'm coming back with a vengance next year!!
I've got nowhere to go but up!
I'll be getting more OSC entries in, too!
So glad I went. Could not stop telling my friends how much fun I was having. Really great event. Thanks a ton, Channing. Phenomenal. Going to try and drag at least one person with me next year to DSST 4!
Edit: As an aside, I cannot help but find it strangely weird that everyone was near the same height. Like 5"5-5"9 seems to be the sweet spot for elite slingers.
