I called them.  Like last year, the hotel can't find the rooms that were blocked off.  The lady I talked to is going to call Channing and call me back.

If there's someone that can't find a place could split it, $337 for a check-in on Thursday evening check out on Monday morning.

If the rooms Channing blocked off can't be sorted out, I'll bunk up with ya.

I'm going to be in the same boat. I also didn't book anything in advance.

You might be ok depending on what problem you're hitting - their online booking software has been down at least since a month ago when I booked my room. So if you're trying to book directly on their website or on any of the booking aggregators(booking.com, priceline, etc) those also aren't going to work. Although depending on how desperate those sites are to get you to use them they might say they have availability when they don't. Overall, I'd say avoid anything that isn't directly talking with the hotel.

So I'd recommend just calling. That's what I did and honestly it was a little confusing even then, but they did eventually figure it out and added me to Channing's block. Give Channing's name and the dates, that'll help them find it.

My phone and email are on the reservation now and I got a confirmation email with actual dates and such on it so I'm confident the reservation does exist(unless it has since been accidentally deleted Grin)

Ha! Yep, everything is gone at Cypress for Fri and Sat.  And that was calling in to find out.  No idea what happened to Channing's blocked off rooms.

I'm booking at Franklin Inn too.  Go there Goob!

***Update***

Channing went to the casino hotel and fixed things.  The rooms are there for Fri and Sat.  If you give them Channing's name, they should be able to find them and put you down for one.  If more days are needed, you can add them.  I got one and will be at the Cypress!

Im grabbing some lunch in Lafayette then I'll head down and see about the mysterious reserved rooms. I'd potentially be willing to bunk up with someone if there's a lack of space.

See if I perform poorly today it's going to be from yesterday's copious amounts of food and booze.

But also if I do well today it will be because of the copious amounts of food and booze.

Helluva Day.  Real good time.  Sore as all hell this morning  Shocked

Gentlemen!

That was a blast.

To anyone who read this thread and was on the fence about going... YOU SHOULD!

We had 3 new people come this year and I'm sure they will all agree it is worth the time and effort to make the trip.

Yeah all of you lurkers that didn't make the trip, do it! It was truly awesome.

Maybe even better than the world cup - Channing did an awesome job putting together a fantastic weekend. Always something fun going on, but never hectic.

Here's the final score cards.  Long distance wasn't included.  It was dropped from the Saturday events because there wasn't time.  We did it on Sunday at the golf course, but I didn't get the final distances.  It wasn't part of the overall scores anyway.

So the score cards cover sling golf, speed round (1 minute), 15 meters, and 20 meters.

And something else a couple of our modest members didn't mention, two of our boys were in the top three!  The overall top three for the event were:

1st - IronGoober (3 years running now)
2nd - Channing
3rd - erricrice

Fantastic job guys! Thumbs Up

Such a fun event!  Anyone who can get there next year absolutely should!

I am one.  I agree.  I had a tremendous time.  I scored poorly, but I took home a Diana on the 20m and I'm super pumped.

I got to see a lot of different slinging techniques in person, got to see a ton of different sling making techniques, purchased a sling from Channing, ate a tremendous amount of good food, went back to the hotel every night feet sore, back sore, type of situation where you just get in, take a shower, and go to bed to get up the next one to do it all over again.

It was absolutely positively worth it, even if it was, as I've been telling outsiders...  "Just a group of guys throwing tennis balls in the park."

You really felt the comarderie, you felt among your people.  If you've ever been trying to tell someone in your local area about slinging and their eyes glaze over and you feel just a slight bit disconnect, it was an entirely different experience there.  There was not a single time where it felt like you could go into too much detail or lose someone when talking about slings, ammo, techniques.

Just a really, really good time.
But I'm coming back with a vengance next year!!
I've got nowhere to go but up!
I'll be getting more OSC entries in, too!

So glad I went.  Could not stop telling my friends how much fun I was having.  Really great event.  Thanks a ton, Channing.  Phenomenal.  Going to try and drag at least one person with me next year to DSST 4!

Edit:  As an aside, I cannot help but find it strangely weird that everyone was near the same height.  Like 5"5-5"9 seems to be the sweet spot for elite slingers.   Roll Eyes
