Hello from Cisco, Utah, USA

Hey all. My name is Lee. I have recently been given the awesome opportunity to run a ranch with sheep full time. I have been involved in animal husbandry for years but now it is full time.. and what kind of shepherd would I be if I don't know how to use a sling? So I am taking up a bucket list goal of mine to learn how to do it. Wish me luck and I look forward to all the wisdom here.

If anyone has recommendations for where I can purchase a good starter sling please shoot me a link. I am located in Cisco, Utah, USA (in the middle of nowhere (;  ) and I would like to eventually get into making my own slings but would love pointers on where to start and probably a good starter sling to get me going and make sure I have the right feel for them.

Hello from Croatia

Joe just started a review and recommendation thread in the forum:
https://slinging.org/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1773716416/5#5

It's really fresh, but you might want to keep an eye on it.

Welcome!!!

You could buy some generic 550 cord from any ol' hardware store and combine that with a bit of leather or other material to create a simple sling. That might be the way to go if you want to get a taste of slinging before buying something that you may end up not liking. Something to consider.  Cool

Welcome! Yes, of course, the fastest way to buy a ready-made sling. Moreover, you have excellent slingers nearby. But I also agree with AtomicDog. Weaving a sling with your own hands is a great way to understand how a sling behaves and what affects range and accuracy when throwing.
