Hobbyists click here...
Dec 7th, 2025 at 11:51pm

So I saw some other disc golfers on here - and kfir reached out talking about archery... I think we have a collection of people here who enjoy deep diving into learning new skills.

What range of interests (other than slinging) do we have here as a group?

For me I tend to wax and wane through the following:
Archery
Slingshots
Disc-golf
Squash
Bushcraft
Knife making
Spoon carving
Prepping
Gardening
Sauerkraut making
European Scything

Definitely archery. And even more so bowyery.

Gardening is also great, even with a small growing space. Old tomato and pepper varieties are the best!

I'd love to get into blacksmithing too.

And, of course, video games.

@Snow Serg that contact spinning is amazing! it was so mesmerizing... Your archery was crash hot too!

@Yfir - My fav tomato is always tommy toe - I get so many for so long and they are completely pest resistant. If you ever need seeds let me know!

I also forgot to put on here:
Geocaching
Strongman training
Ukulele
African Drumming

My wife is a very tolerant person...

Thanks!! It's great when there's enough heat to grow a good crop. We have a very short summer and it is difficult to grow heat-loving plants. Ukulele are great!!

I tried gardening here at my current house a few years ago.  At my former house anything I planted grew.  Not so here.  I discovered that there are Squash Bugs here.  I never heard of them before.  They get inside of your plants and eat the stalks and stems from the inside out.  The plants initially appear healthy then suddenly collapse and die.  Squash, cucumbers, melons, pumpkins, or anything related is fair game to them.  Also my vegetable patch is more shaded here so sun loving veggies like peppers of any sort grow very slowly.  Tomatoes grow OK here.
I might try my hand at gardening again this Spring.  This time I'll plant stuff that grows well in limited light and isn't affected by Squash Bugs.  Radishes, turnips, beets, broccoli, rutabagas, and a few others should grow fine here.

That's a broad range man! Love it!!!

I wanna make kimchi but dont know how to make it vegan without the fishsauce... And sauerkraut it highly exciting, I reject your assertion! for example--- it sparks so many heated conversations in our house... usually starting with - "Dad how much longer is that kraut gonna be stinking up our house!?!?"

Any yoyo throwers here? I forgot to add it to my list.

Even though I don't like eating sauerkraut, I think it's a great thing. Really healthy for your gut and plenty other things. Natural medicine!

I also wanted to try making Korean kimchi from cabbage. But for now, I made kimchi from green long beans. I don't like the fish sauce, so I replaced it with regular soy sauce. I really liked the result. I think cabbage kimchi with soy sauce will also be very tasty.
