Wet weather sling?
Oct 1st, 2025 at 1:23pm

So a few of you may know that oregon is a fairly wet place. The rainy season  has started. I was out this morning doing a little hurling with a all leather sling  in the morning mist it became soaked and stretched so I switched slings to a spectra model I had with me
But doing so I realized that even though I have lived here over twenty five years I have never thought about or designed a wet weather sling.
So slinging.org any ideas for waterproof sling.

Just make a sling out of Dyneema fishing thread.

I took one of my slings on vacation this summer. Swam with it in my swimming trunks pocket, threw stones later.

Polypropylene or some other sort of plasticky material would be ideal, as they can't soak up any water.
I usually just use anything other than natural fiber, though, and leave the sling to dry afterwards.

I don't have any experience with waxing slings, but that could provide a good level of water-proofness, too.

Once, Toivo and Eino were out hunting, and before setting out, Toivo told Eino to fire three shots in the air if he got lost, and Toivo would find him. Soon enough, Eino got lost, aimed his weapon up and prayed: "God, please let Toivo see my arrows!"

Yeah, agreed on all counts. Dyneema, polypropylene or polysteel, they're all very resistant to water.

I've made slings and dog leashes out of Polypropylene.  Not only is it water resistant but items made from it last almost forever.

Polypropylene sounds good  I actually have some sheets of it. So I might get creative stil looking for that extreme  idea though
