1 Minute Speed Wallball
Apr 21st, 2025 at 6:09pm

Alright, here we go! I finally decided to codify it and record a video. Definitely room to improve, but I wanted to get it up here rather than keep trying for a perfect round. Post a video here and get yourself on that leaderboard!!

The goal here is to throw a tennis ball at a wall and catch it before it hits the ground as many times as you can in 60 seconds.

Rules:

  1. Throw from a 6m distance - after lots of testing, this seemed to be a good middle ground, but I'm open to feedback. You don't need a ton of power to get the ball back to you and you have time to react.
    1. You can cross the line to catch the ball
  2. One tennis ball only. If it bounces off in a random direction, you have to go retrieve it while the timer runs(like I did Grin)
  3. No buzzer shots. The ball must have returned to your hand before the buzzer to count the point.
  4. You can use any style, but really only Greek(or some variation) is viable.
  5. Cannot be cut from an existing round, must be the start of the attempt.

Some recommendations from doing this a bunch:
  1. This might seem obvious, but you want a dense wall. Concrete or similar is best, otherwise you won't get nearly as much bounce.
  2. Aim high unless you want to be doing a lot of squats.
  3. A stiff sling is a must. Reloading a spaghetti sling is significantly more time consuming and you don't want to be spending time thinking about reloading - you want to get your head back up so you can start to aim your next shot while you're settling your ammo in the pouch by feel.

Very cool idea!  And great round! Thumbs Up

I don't have a wall to do that readily available (that I can think of).  I'll try to find something though.

It definitely takes some practice, but keep at it! It's very different than typical target slinging. Even with 5 you'd be in second place!

Ha thanks! They're all pretty easy targets, you should push one off the bottom  Wink

Hey nice job! You have knocked goliath off the leaderboard 💪

I like your figure eight - I hadn't thought about using that since I haven't practiced it much but it might be something to consider for this due to the short windup.

You totally had that last one! Just over your fingertips Grin

@NolanSlings - Nice round! Thumbs Up

I think this challenge will definitely be tough with Figure-8 because any overhand style is more likely to come off the wall at a downward angle toward the ground.  If you do another attempt, it might be worth a shot to move back just a bit and aim a little higher on the wall.  You might already have your own adjustments in mind though.  Good stuff man!
