Https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ykWCWpsbTDJm873EeYRxO7fS89DAGwOjHere’s a collection of shots taken at 2000 frames per second. Frame count is in the lower left corner.
Style: Byzantine (single-rotating windup, sidearm power stroke)… windup plane was approximately a 45-degree angle between vertical and horizontal except for a few that had a vertical windup . The ball releases lower on the vertical windup shots, but it’s basically the same style.
[/b] Ammo:[/b]tennis ball (wet). The ball was submerged immediately before each shot.
Line Spacing: 12 inches edge-to-edge. Tape is 2” wide white duct tape.
Slings used 25” asymmetric, leather and paracord sling;
27” asymmetric seatbelt sling with the same type of paracord cords, 1.5” wide solid seatbelt webbing pouch. It is Asymmetric because the retention side cups towards the ammo for retention of ammo, but the release side cups outward away from the ammo for a faster release (you’ll see that in action in the videos):
30” asymmetric leather and paracord sling which is nearly identical to the 25” except for the cord length.
All pouches are 6.5” long. Leather pouches are 3” wide with a deep cup on the retention side and taper to 1” wide and are flat (not cupped) at the release end. Photo is for reference and is missing a cracker. It’s not the exact sling used, but the leather pouches were all die-cut to this same shape.
Length measured from release knot to the back of the empty pouch. Sling is slightly shorter with a tennis ball loaded. Slings all weigh around 20g. I will get a proper weight and post that shortly.
The water is used as a spin indicator. It does affect the weight slightly, and it’s possible that it also affects the friction between the ball and pouch during the release.
Once I calculate shot speeds, I will drop the numbers in the Google drive folder.
Other than exact sling and ammo weights, what information did I forget to include?
