If you soak it in water for a handful of minutes first, it splatters.
Whoa, I had no idea, definitely have to try this! Adding splatters to the mix would be so cool.

I like seeing the swing path from the splattered colors!
Ha yeah I didn't think about it that way, but it's a good retrospective aim measurement! It's actually sort of in line with a game idea I had while doing the tennis ball segment.
Pick some fairly close distance to a wall like I had here (probably anything < 10m) and sling at it with a tennis ball with the goal being to get it to come straight back to you so you can catch it. See how many times in a row you can do that without missing! I'm not sure yet if a catch after it hits the ground would count, but we could vary that for easy and hard mode.
It makes for a great practice exercise too since it forces you to:
- Aim fairly well, despite the close distance. Although I suppose you could increase the distance, there's only so far you could go even with a powerful throw since it isn't going to bounce back at an arc.
- Release horizontally straight, not at too much of an angle left or right.
- Release vertically straight/flat/don't arc since then the ball will bounce down towards the ground.
- Have proper rifling spin on the ball, otherwise it will bounce off at an angle.
- Work on your reflexes! Closer distances would be even harder since you'd have to react faster, but again there's going to be a practical limit.
Haven't really tried it yet since I don't have any good walls nearby(the one in this video isn't super easy to get to and the field is often in use). But seems like it could be good fun for a leaderboard sort of thing like the can challenge!
