I figure if I was going to do Guam, that would be the only trip for the year. I don't know if I could afford to do anything else along with it.

Not sure if flight prices to Guam are influenced by the "tourist seasons" we have in Hawai'i but if they are, ideal times for travel would be mid-Spring to the beginning of Summer (mid-March to May/early June); end of summer/beginning of fall until the Winter holidays (August-November [excluding days around Thanksgiving] to mid-December) and a small Window between the end of Winter holidays and what people in the States would consider "spring break season" (After January 1st to beginning of March).
For Hawai'i, the period at the between fall and Winter holidays is generally the cheapest, given kids are still at school and the majority of people are still in the middle of work before Thanksgiving kicks off the holiday season, so less travel to the islands should = cheaper flights.
