Suggestible people.

One or two will, against the odds, be natural sling geniuses but we will end up with a lot of disgruntled newbies walking away, angry that they actually have to practice in order to achieve.

I just want to come out and openly say I definitely have NOT worked on it and am NOT under an NDA about any experiences I DID NOT experience while consulting about the sling.

Breaking contracts is inappropriate and slinging.org does not have anything to do with illegal behavior real or implied. Also, Not me. Just saying.

I started watching this yesterday, and it's not nearly as hokey as I was expecting it to be! I wouldn't say it's going to sweep any awards shows or anything, but it's not bad.

Although even just on the second episode, they had to break the rules Tongue

he did a trick shot with two stones in the pouch hitting two targets at once.

He did a good job practicing his technique though, it's a sort of side-arm figure eight and looks pretty realistic.

Cool. After thinking about it for a while, I've kind of accepted how the slinging is likely to be portrayed. It basically came down to the way other weapons are shown. If you look at swords, bows, guns, whatever, the way people use them in movies is very rarely how it would be (or has been) done in real life. Why wouldn't slings get the same treatment?!

I'm not watching the show, but that's just because I don't have Prime. Maybe I'll catch it if it's put on Blu-ray or something after a little while.

The throw (gif) you attached is fine. The initial rotation behind the back is just flair. After that he brings it to the front in an underhand rotation, and then into an underhand or sidearm release. They kind of chopped out the actual release when they cut from one point of view to the other. But yeah, that throw totally works.

Oh yeah for sure, it was always going to be highly stylized exactly like you pointed out with other weapons. I went in expecting far worse to be honest.

Other than that shot with the two stones, they've done a decent job both making it look cool and keeping it fairly realistic. We'll see how they do as it progresses, hopefully they don't try to keep racheting up the action to a point where they're getting too crazy.

I'm also happy that they're not over-focusing on the sling as a plot point. It's certainly one of his main characteristics, but it's well balanced with the rest of the storytelling. There have been maybe 3 scenes so far that mention or focus on the sling, with my gif above being the most time/attention they spent on it showing off his skills.

Noooooooo, that makes it so much worse.
My imagining on the name was so prosaic ..... in uk a common finish on houses is dashed render.
This is a cement base applied to brick then (pebble) dashed with , most commonly small quartz chippings or if you are posh pebbles as in pea gravel which is more work to apply as it doesnt have the points which stick in.
So for me a brickie with a sling !!
Now I know he has taken a star wars name he has plummeted even further.
