Different natural fibers used in Balearic islands
Nov 27th, 2024 at 5:55pm

I think most of us have seen the old video about how to make a Balearic sling out of different kinds of natural fiber. To me, it's the original Balearic sling video. It provides a bit of information on how to process sisal and esparto grass. There's one more type of natural fiber being used, and it looks like the poisonous plant called flax-leaved daphne, which grows in the region.

It can't really be that! Does anyone know what plant that is?

Looks like it is actually flax-leaved daphne. This other video identifies the plant and shows off the strength of the bark as cordage fiber.
