Just found out about this . It translates to the Champions stone in Irish. Apparently they were kept in shield bosses, then thrown at the enemy in battle. All have a wedge shaped design. Some have holes drilled into them. The purpose is to allegedly have a cord tied to it so it can be returned in battle.
My question is how do you think it was thrown? I imagine you would want it point first.

Interesting !

As a drawing ....... it looks identical to a stone axe.

Without knowing what it is made of and what the finish is and where, if anywhere it is sharpened, pollisoir or flaked there is little to say.

But, if carried, and held on the blunt end , I wouldn't want to be skewered on the pointy end.😁👍

What is your source ? The hypothesis seems to me "fragile".

I agree.
If you want throw stones, pick them up from the ground.

The main mention of these came from a series of lectures in the later 1800's. They were by professor Eugene O"Curry of Catholic University. They were On the Manners and customs of the Ancient Irish.
Of course the legends and storie of the Irish have tales of soldiers having throwing stones held in the boss of their shield, but they're never described. Given the time period, and the state of archeology then, I would think there would be error in the interpretation.  What I really want to know, is do people think there is a way to thrown them  so that pointed side hits? More out of curiousity.

Ok !
ANYTHING, is possible.
But ..... I can't (quickly) think of a reliable way of throwing one of these, repeatedly, point first.

Knowing the almost perfect mixture of insanity and genius here abouts I look forward to theories and propositions and maybe even a video of someone doing it !!!

Happy days,
😁👍
