Hey everyone, I had a discussion with one of our forum members about running the SITH a little earlier this year, so let's go!

Just a quick rundown for any new folks who aren't familiar with it.  The SITH (Sling In The Hat) is our yearly sling exchange.  All forum members are welcome to join.  We'll collect names for about a month, and then do a drawing to see who is sending to who.  If you want to join the fun, just post a reply and let everyone know that you're in.  It's that simple!  I'll continually update this first post with a list of everyone who has joined.

Next thing, there are some common SITH topics that come up often so I'll bring attention to them right away.  There are members of the forum who send multiple slings or include extra gifts in the package.  That is perfectly fine, but in no way required.  Entering the SITH only requires you to send one sling to another member.  Anything extra is totally up to you!  Another thing is sometimes people don't want to join because they're worried the slings they make aren't good enough.  Please don't let that dissuade you.  We're all at different levels of experience, and more importantly we all make slings in very different ways.  The SITH is not a contest.  What most people actually want is a sling like one you personally use.  It's great to try out a (style of) sling that another member of the forum uses regularly.

Some more good news.  I was talking to JudoP at the World Cup in Ibiza.  He said he'll do the SITH drawing this year!  If any of our newer members haven't had interaction with JudoP yet, he's one of our guys from the UK.  A fantastic sling maker (and slinger)!  And he's been around here longer than me. 

We'll need to figure out how we'll break people up for the exchange, but we can worry about that once we get closer to closing time.  Speaking of that, I'm thinking we'll probably close things out on Friday December 13th.  That's not written in stone yet, but I think it will be good.  It gives us a little more than a month for people to join up.  And it will give JudoP the weekend to record and post the pulling of the names.

Great question!  I forgot to hit on that in the main post.  Yes, absolutely.  Once the drawing is done, we can do any needed shuffling around to make sure we don't have folks sending out slings to the same people.  That communication can just be done in this thread.

Another good topic brought up.  If anyone is still waiting on a sling from last year, feel free to bring it up in this thread and we can try to help rectify the situation.  Also feel free to send me a message directly if you don't want to post it publicly.  In the past we've had members never receive a sling, and that's certainly a disappointing situation we want to try to avoid.
