"Balearic style" sling from a single piece of Dyneema rope

This isn't my tutorial.  Just one that popped up in my YouTube recommendations.  It looks pretty good.  This is the only sling-related video on the guy's channel.

Thank you for the share! That was a pretty informative tutorial. I really like how the dyneema looks, I would like to get my hands on some - only have some 1.5 mm that I used for a cable replacement.

I have little experience with dyneema, but how slick is it? I prefer to heavily wax my slings to make them "grippier". Would it absorb wax?

Yes, you can wax it.  Archaic Arms does this in his Balearic sling making video for the exact same purpose, https://youtu.be/NRzGbu7Bvfo&t=1477.

Perfect! I just ordered a spool of UHMWPE throw line, I couldn't justify Dyneema cord. It's kind of pricey in my neck of the woods, but the throw line seemed to be affordable

It seems I've seen this video, but a long time ago. But thanks for it anyway!
Now I have a dilemma...what type of sling to make with only 5 meters of UHMWPE.
As shown in this video or as originally planned - like when the sling is made with one layer of rope, and the bag is made in the shape of the letter S and secured with knots on both sides.

That was fascinating and whilst I won't be rushing about to make one , next time I am in a pound shop I will have an eye out for tow rope !
😁👍

Are you sure it was this one?  The video was only a few months old when I posted it.  The description 'long time' is certainly different for everyone.  Just curious if there might be another video out there of a similar technique that we should be searching for.

Ok, I agree, "very" is unnecessary there. And maybe the whole comment.
Especially considering that I became seriously interested in the sling around the middle of last year Roll Eyes except that I've watched a lot of video material and it leaves the impression of being old...
But this is really that video. I even checked the search for similar ones. Now he is 5 months old.

All good man!  Your comment was fine, I just wanted to make sure there wasn't another video out there showing a similar technique.  Could have made for a good comparison.  Smiley

Perhaps someone will find a couple of videos on how to make a Brummel castle useful, because I didn't do it quite right.

https://youtu.be/4WW7Qvg3VjI?si=lyXJhBMQhvb7Qxie

Yesterday finally got around to the Dyneema, so far I've made it my usual type of "survival sling", the only thing I've done is replace the knot at the end where the finger loop is with a Brumel lock. The Dyneema is interesting to work with and this sling feels lighter than its paracord counterparts.. Let's see how long the knot and strap will withstand friction against rocks when removed from the bag, and what the impressions will be.
