Not really any new information here. But a good video testing out the power of the sling. Very entertaining too.

My goodness! If that's what a ~30m/s ~120 rock can do, I would imagine a 50 or 60m/s ~150g rock would be absolutely devastating to a ballistic gel head like that.
True, it's not new information, but it helps to see just how powerful (and hence, dangerous) slings are

For thus says the LORD: “Behold, I am slinging out the inhabitants of the land at this time, and I will bring distress on them, that they may feel it.”

Very entertaining video.

Just a note.
A human body don't jump in the air during a violent blow. So the marks on the manikin don't correspond to reality.
Just my idea.

When watching the slow motion, there is very little movement of the ballistic dummy until the stone has already bounced off of it. So I don't think the movement of the dummy would make that much difference.
But if we assume that a human would move less because of having more weight, then the damage inflicted would likely be more than what we see on the dummy. That may have been what you meant.

Yes. The shock wave would not be damped by the movement but would remain inside the body.
Just my idea.

Joe, you made a video where you break a bone behind a board with your sling. The collarbone was in the manikin. The rock hit the shoulder and everything jumped in the air. It's a bit frustrating.
Just my idea.

I see the hit you're referring to. I agree, there is a lot of movement with that one. But I think most of the hits closely replicate what we might see if a human were to actually get hit by one of those stones. The head shots and the hits toward the center, such as the one that strikes the throat area, don't move the target that much. And if a stone of that size were to hit a person, there would certainly be some movement. I agree though that the movement is definitely something to keep in mind when viewing a test like this.
