Slinging Rocks!

Aloha from the Koʻolaupoko district of Hawai`i. I used to sling stones along a stream that ran parallel along the length of my backyard. Friend and I would challenge each other to who could launch a stone the farthest upstream. This was over 50 years ago. Sold that property after my parents passing in 2007. I retired from the State in late 2022, so have some extra time to kill. For some reason a YouTube suggested video was on slinging, and one video followed another, and before I knew it I had 3 slings, and a bag of foam golf balls on order. Hopefully, slinging is like riding a bicycle. Little known fact but native Hawaiian used both slings in warfare, as well as bows and arrows, though these were purely for the the sport of rat hunting. The slings were called Ma`a (mah-`ah). I found someone who makes a nice replica of a Ma`a which I will order while my wife is not looking. Hereʻs a photos of his Ma`a below.
