Hello again forum! My first "proper" post here then. Summer crazy but getting more time (and getting material) have finally started construction on a new sling... Can now braid MUCH faster but now have the same issue I've had for a while; that is not knowing how to properly start/finish a secure and smooth pouch transition.
What I did at first was just turk's head knot on either side of the "base strings" and then weave in the pouch entirely separate from the rest of the sling; either using one longer or two shorter pieces of paracord.
What I currently do is braid first cord to desired length, then insert a couple of strings where it FEELS like they will "lock" at least a little bit (don't yet have a system so this is trial and error) then do a 6 strand "half round braid" (named thusly from online. I don't know if a round braid would be better?) for a couple of rounds only then start weaving the split pouch, 6 strand braid again and then leave both ends hanging which I then finish by just pulling tight and then melting. I don't really like this way of doing it; it's hit and miss.
I have experimented both with pouch string with/without guts but have not tried the 6 strand entry without one.
So my question then... What is a good and consistant way of specifically entering/exiting the pouch? I saw this post in the sales-section:
https://slinging.org/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1717961690and that example looks VERY nice and secure to me (no affiliation) with the strings crossing over like that holding the sides closer as well. There are also no big knots on either side (seemingly a plus imho).
Are there any easy to follow tutorials on this way of doing the pouch? Any special tools other than tweezers required for it (don't yet own the special paracord needles)?
