Hi, I have this book on the way, and as far as I have plenty of free time, I would just like to try it.

In local store was only Kumihimo disk, not a plate
Is it usable, and if so, is there any guide online how to Inter change or not sure how to put it, maybe adapt the work I would do on plate, so I can do same on disk?

I will probably order the plate, but its not in stock now, so while waiting, would like at least play with it small and see, what I can do.

Definitely though, would need some pattern of sling online or tutorial, to have slight idea, how it works

Have you seen Teg's series on fist braiding, https://slinging.org/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1687685411?  It's the only instructional video I know of that goes into any depth on a similar type of braiding.
