All,

I will be 'hosting' a distance slinging competition in Austin, Nevada (actually held at Smith Creek dry lake bed) on August 24th and 25th, 2024. Why Austin, NV? We are going to be piggy backing off of the flight archery broadhead competition that happens there every year. They  have some nice distance measuring equipment and are good people.

There are only a few accommodations nearby, so please let me know if you would like to come so I can make sure that we can coordinate and get everyone a place to stay. I will likely be camping on the lakebed. I'll have a canopy for putting some chairs under and will have lots of water with me.

Here is a preview of the area. It is an amazing spot for distance slinging. I will be bringing clay projectiles, concrete projectiles, lighted glandes and some lead.  Come chuck stuff in the desert!!

That location look incredible.  In the video it looks like you're doing a green screen effect.

Hey guys, I placed 1st in all the categories I competed in!

I actually got a lead gland out past 400m. A video documenting it is upcoming, it's a long form video, so it might be boring to watch.

Note: Since I didn't perform great during the 'official' round (where we had survey equipment to measure distance) I'm not going to post anything. I only recorded the throws anyway, not the measurement (I got to about 375m during the official round)

I'm excited to try slinging at a dry lake bed I found near Mono Lake in CA. It is up at 2450m (8000ft) and on public land that is accessible by vehicle.

I have been giddy all day with how well the slings performed!

I can't tell what's the more impresive throw, the 395 m concrete one, or the 420 lead one.

It is amazingly quiet out there. It's about 100 miles (160km) from any town (other than Austin which is only 100 people).

The wind was only bad the first day, it poured that night. Then it quieted down and was quite nice.  You guys should all come next year! we could have a target tournament too.
