What a cool forum!
Been slinging since I was a kid. I recently began practicing daily again after a long hiatus. It seemed to fit nicely with my martial arts practice.

My outlook on life is Aristotalean; on seeing an Acorn I see a potential oak tree rather than Plato's view that it is a failed copy.

Do you sling to hit targets? distance? or make the loudest noises possible?

Welcome!

As a kid I was just messing around- mostly for distance. My interest has always been in survival/naked into the wilderness kind of stuff. Eventually I developed a no-spin throw with some power but more emphasis on accuracy for hunting.

Now I'm mostly using it to train some Kung Fu concepts involving generating power by relaxing the muscles rather than flexing them. The motion is driven by the big muscles close to the centerline and the limbs supply only enough tension to transmit and aim that motion to the hands or feet, like cracking a whip.
