I think your assumption is correct.  Looks like fishing and bird hunting with a sling happening together.

Could also be Hercules and the Stymphalian birds ?

Has anyone here ever hunted wataerfowl with the sling ?

Good remark Thearos. I hadn't thought of it.
On Wikipedia, Hercule is represented among the Greeks with a bow and a lion's skin. He represents the god who protects against wild beasts. How is he represented in the rest of Mediterannean world ? I don't know.
Just my idea, this mural illustrates the leasure activities of the Etruscan rich people : birds hunting and fishing.
