I quit.
Sep 18th, 2023 at 4:45am

Having a chance to say a formal goodbye here. The truth is a hard thing to hear, nonetheless it remains the truth, and I cannot lie to friends, but have to say the truth to them, for that is real love.

I quit slinging and many other things. For it became an idol in my heart and addiction in my life. Truly, there is no point to it at all. It is merely a distraction, from the things that truly matter, and it (slings) has never given me happiness, nor increased security, or has it ever aided in my survival. None of these things do aid to the lenghtening of a man's life or the peace of his soul.

I also broke with the digital slavery.  My future life is 100% analog. Hence I will not be coming back here.
I wish you all find the same thing I found, Christ Yeshua in your lives, and find true rest for your soul. Our life is like a flower that grows quickly and then dies away. We are born naked and we will die so. Focus on the eternity that is to come.

All the best,
J.

I know you're only speaking for yourself, but I completely disagree with your assessment of slings and slinging.  Slinging has taught me many things such as determination, perseverance, and camaraderie (among others).  And I'm certainly no expert as I continue to learn and grow.  Slinging has also put me in contact with so many friends all over the world.  I can't begin to state how valuable that is to me.

I have no idea if this life is stepping stone into another one, but while we're here I don't see any problem with getting enjoyment from certain activities and trying to be better in all we do.  The photo you posted makes me sad.  I'm sure you felt a need to cut up your slings, but all I see is the destruction of something that was beautiful.

Best of luck in your future endeavors.  Farewell, sling brother.

It's for you to figure it out, but I don't think cutting out or destroying your hobbies is a positive or good thing. You seem to be seeking perfection or purity, that is not this world. Embrace good where you find it and accept imperfection because it's unavoidable. Perhaps there is someone who can give you spiritual guidance? If slings and slinging are really harmful for you and your goals then I wish you well in your future endevours, but I feel there is more to it and this pattern will repeat.

I hope I'm not too arrogant in these suggestions, I hope it's helpful. Goodbye and thanks for your contributions to this community.

Good luck, though you probably won’t return to read this.

I think this is a little goofy, slinging is just another activity you do with your time. I also have had less time recently to sling, and so I just focus on other things. This isn’t really something that’s some sort of huge distraction. But if doesn’t bring you happiness, then that’s good you figured that out. It kind of hurts to see those beautiful slings chopped up though.

Hey brother. You know you dont have to be a slinger to be a member here. You can still hang out and give your input and opinions on things.

I should also say I do get it as a fellow Christian. Sure it may seem a bit drastic but there is something beautiful about so fully dedicating yourself to a cause you believe to be above you. People may think its nutty but I also like the idea of the trope of the bhuddist monk who goes and meditates for years at a time to try to gain enlightenment.

For me it's chess. I literally have no self-control with that game. I find it utterly fascinating and it consumes my life to an unhealthy degree. So I put it away lol. Sigh. Lol it does make me laugh though. What a total nerd for that to be my addiction. You cant even snort it. Anyways, rambling.

Either way, you will always be a legend of Slinging.Org J. Please stop by anytime.
