This will be broken into two posts.

I know there's one or two other disc golfers out there.  Not sure if you're familiar with Westside Discs.  Their discs are named after medieval/fantasy weapons, people, etc.  Things like Sword, Hatchet, King, etc.

They used to have a disc called the Sling (it's been discontinued).  I carried one in my bag for a while.  I never actually liked it very much.  Mostly just carried it because of the name, although I did use it here and there.  I lost it on a course a while back so I don't have it anymore.  The image wasn't too bad.  A warrior throwing a disc with a sling.  Pretty cool.

That's really pathetic.

Too bad that it would be feeding the sling / slingshot misconception. They should have kept the old one.

I have tried slinging a disc before, but I've never been able to get it to work.  It's important that the disc is flat when it's released, and that is very difficult when trying to throw it with a sling.


But an update.  Since there were a number of responses to this, I decided to go ahead with some comms.  I sent an email to company and told them about the error.  I'm certainly not expecting the discs to be change, and I think even getting a reply is unlikely, but I'll let you guys know if I hear anything.

Barely anyone I talk to actually knows what a sling is. Things like this don't help its obscurity!
