Hi from Florida
Jun 11th, 2023 at 6:21pm

New here but have been building and using homemade slingshots for a few years now.  I'm looking forward to learning, making, and becoming somewhat proficient with a sling.  All the best to you all.  Mark in Florida, USA

WZ will always be on my playlist.  Werewolf in London is another great I recall from 1978 - yeah, I'm old.  If you have any pro tips please feel free to pass them along.  Many thanks.  Mark

My wife is from PA from the Pottsville area.  She tuned me on to Yuengling beer and it's been my favorite ever since Smiley  Cheers

Had relatives in Lakewood, NJ (passed on now).  Seems like I have something in common with everyone in the group so far Smiley  If you have any pro tips for a begginer newbie like me, please pass them on.  I'm building my first sling now with plans I downloaded from here.  And I have a place where I can make mistakes without taking out any windows Smiley   Thanks again.

Just noticed "mead maker" in your name.  I make small batches of beer (just two gallons at a time as I am limited on space and money).  I just bought a book called 'the compleat meadmaker' by Ken Schramm.  I also just bought some local honey.  If you have any mead tips please pass them along.  Cheers, Mark

Ha!  Yep, I've drank quite a few Yuenglings over the years.  Don't drink it too often anymore.  I'm one of the folks who is always going after new and different beers to try.

Regarding mead making, if you're a brewer, you'll already have a great start on what you need to know.  One of the big differences (and the first piece of advice) is give it time.  The flavors of fermented honey take a while to develop.  While a beer can be ready to go after month or so, mead might not start coming into its prime flavor until it's 8 - 12 months old.  A lot of the mead I make I don't even both touching until it's got a couple years on it.  Just give it time, and take a small taste every so often to see how it's doing.

Thanks for the reply.  Your advice is well founded.  I need to get the pipeline going and let it all age out for good results.  Cheers  Smiley

Yuengling is good beer. It was my late wife's favorite.  Probably the best slinging tip I have is don't sling at full power if you're going for accuracy.  If you're slinging as hard as you can your muscles will be tight causing you to miss the mark.  If you sling at 85% of your full strength the loss in hitting power and range will be negligible while your accuracy will increase greatly.

Thanks for the advice.  Makes a lot of sense and I am sometimes lacking in that area Smiley    I'm working on my first sling and have an area picked out for practice.  Never did this before but always wanted to.  Thanks again, Mark
