Cancer was pretty rare until the last century - well after smoked meats were established. What does this tell us? If you ask me, it tells us that when processed food became widespread, cancer became more common. That's why I think they're mistaking what makes smoked meat dangerous - the additives.
Yes, processed foods are bad for our health in many ways. That's why I don't eat any. And the additives they put in smoked meat definitely makes it more dangerous.
My statement refers to the time before smoked meats were mass produced with additives. Do a little more research. The link between smoked meat and stomach cancer is a reality.
I personally don't care what anyone eats. If someone wants to eat smoked meat six times a day or eat at McDonald's every day of their life I'm fine with it. And eating something not completely healthy once in a while will probably do you no harm. But if I know of a risk that you don't and I don't tell you about it then I am negligent.
