Special Retention Knot (Read 569 times)

Posts: 80 bay area slinging club Gender:	Special Retention Knot May 12^th, 2023 at 3:36pm Hi there everyone, I've seen retention knots that are sort of square and flat so you can grip them, but I'm not sure what they are called. I've attached an image for reference. Does anyone know how to make this? or is there a tutorial on youtube? (Sling in the image is @AncientCraftwork's)

What you're looking at is a release tab.

Here's a previous thread on them: https://slinging.org/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1615005901. Morphy's video in the very first post seems to be locked down. I'll reach out to him and see if it's something he would be willing to open up. But there are some pics and descriptions in the thread that should put you on the right track.

It definitely works, just make sure the leather is thick enough so it is strong enough and has good grip. The few times I tried it it was too thin and would break and just wasn't thick enough for good grip.
