I've been searching the internet for instructional videos on how to make Balearic style slings to improve my sling making with jute.
I did a search on slinging.org and looked through all the relevant matches as best I could. I didn't notice links to any of these videos from 13 years ago . . . . .
Tutorial Honda balear parts 1, 2 and 3
@AurelioApe
He's using Sisal. I noticed he starts with it already in rope form on a roll and cuts it into 60cm pieces before unraveling the sections, then soaks them in water before braiding with them. I wonder if pre soaking jute before braiding with it would be advantages.
I also noticed he says to twist all the Sisal in the same direction while braiding. With Jute I've found twisting all the strands in the same direction causes my slings to twist after being finished. I've found twisting the strings on the left left and twisting the strings on the right right, stops my slings from twisting when they're finished.
When he braids the pouch, he says that extra bulk accumulates at both ends of the pouch due to the braid and to load the ammo on the sides of the pouch without the extra bulk. The other tutorials I've been following have said to have the knee, which on those tutorials was the retention cord bulk side of the pouch.
At the end of part 3 he shows how to finish the sling with a wall knot, a knight I've not seen before that looks like a better way of ending the braid than the way I've been doing.
