Slinging Target Boards
May 7th, 2023 at 8:44pm

Hi there everyone,

I often see the wooden boards with metal discs used for general slinging and also competitions, and I am thinking of making one for myself.

How would one go about making one of these 'diana' boards?

Here's Channing's video which covers things well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpa-S7CxXic.  Basically what Blindsquirrel is describing.

If you don't want to worry about cutting metal for the diana plate, just jump on Amazon and get a heavy duty 20 inch pizza pan.  It's already the correct size.  That's what I've been using for a while.  It's dented up quite a bit, but still working fine.  Because a pizza pan won't hold up as well as a thicker plate, I have three connection points.  I have a video where I replace the board if you want to see it.  It's here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ije7S3e6jF4.

I use a jury-rigged one with a folded-over duct tape frame and a cardboard diana, and it works well when tied onto a baseball backstop at a local park. I'll attach a photo of it soon.

Once, Toivo and Eino were building a house, but as Toivo worked, he would occasionally throw a nail over his shoulder. When Eino asked why he was being so wasteful, he said, “The heads are on the wrong side!” Eino looked at him and said, “You dummy, those are for the other side of the house!”

Turns out I don't have a picture of it on a backstop. Here it is laid out on the patio:

Looks so simple yet functional, Eino!

Will definitely have to try this, as I am unable to build one out of wood at the moment.

Thanks for the suggestion!

Also a design I'll definitely try out (as I have bicycle tubes lying around)

Thank you Mersa!
