I did hear the Hawaiians had a bit of a slinging history, so it wouldn't surprise me if some other pacific islands are similar. A widespread weapon indeed!

They have come from almost nothing to getting many young people into the sport through its cultural history on their islands. Hafa Adai!

Some SERIOUS slinging there, with an ancient lineage!
