@Joe, where did you get your kevlar cord to repair it....same thing happened to me!! Except this time it was the release cord that came off.

Oh my!  Maybe this pass-around is doomed.  Grin

This is what I bought: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07X52LV6Q.  The 400 lb, 500 feet.  Figured I would get a long spool for other slings.

If you don't want to get that much, I can absolutely cut a length off the one I got and send it to you.  Just let me know.

I was able to salvage the old piece of whipping. Just used pliers to make it tight. I don't think it'll come loose again. When I do that with my dyneema seatbelt slings, it never slips, so I think this'll be ok now.

I bought some 3mm and some 1mm cord to make some of my own kevlar corded slings, now. How thick do you think the cords are on it? 5mm? I could just go get some calipers...

I think 5mm is a safe bet for the cord thickness.

What I'm really hoping to do is make a braided sling with hemp or some other fiber, and then gradually substitute in the kevlar at the end of the release cord like some of the guys here have done.  I think that look so cool.  And it makes sense to add the strength at the end of the sling.

It works well! I have done that by copying Archaic Arms and used dyneema to good effect. I bet Kevlar would be a bit easier in some respects because if has better friction.

And just to mention, there won't ever be a closing date for this.  If anyone wants to do a video with this sling, just leave a post and you'll be added to the list.

If you want to get some more recorded, go for it.  I put the intended time period as 2 weeks, but that's really just a guideline.  Getting some awesome videos definitely takes priority.  If you don't have what you want yet, it's all good.

Rat Man is the next US participant.  I'd say sent it to him.  Then it can go to Nooc, and then off to Mersa.  We can obviously adjust that in a way that makes sense if any others join in.

I filmed something...not super happy with it though. I'll post it anyway.  It's funny, I was just opening up the video to edit it when I checked this thread...

Rat Man, you want to PM me your shipping address?

All good buddy.  If you want to take another shot, go for it.  I'd rather you get the hit you want.  We're not filling up with volunteers for this thing anyway.
