Bucket list and “wannadooz”

Do you have any slinging related goals on your bucket list?
Or maybe something a little less serious. a goal that might not be possible or beyond your control but something which you’re willing to work towards ?
A wannadoo shall we call it .

I had a list of trickshots I used to want to do but lately or should I say since Ibiza I’ve changed direction a bit.

My current wannadoo list.

Distance: currently chasing 300m+ confirmed throw. No ammo or sling restrictions.
Target (recreational): 10 Diana’s in a row (20+10).
Target (competitive): Compete in international competition again.
Trickshots: 8 cans in 1 minute . 3 cans in order no misses.
Other: Hold a “Slingfest” in Australia.

Do you have any Wannadoos ?

I've got a pretty long list.  I'm not sure how much I'll actually get done.

On trick shots, I have a couple in mind.  It's stuff that's been done or brought up by others before (meaning nothing new thought up by me) so I won't bother listing everything.  I'll just mention that the one I'm currently working on is to hit a paper airplane out of the air.  I'm following the rules as presented by Jaegoor, so the plane has to fly 10m (or at least be close to that) before the hit.  I've had one go at it, but no hits.  A few close ones.  Getting a good flight from the paper airplane is definitely the hardest part.  During my attempt I was only getting 1 or 2 good flights for every 10 throws.

I have a few experiments I want to try too.  One is another pykrete video.  Another is slinging from "trench-like" cover.  And a third is (finally) a staff sling video.  One of our fellow forum members gave me a great idea for a staff sling video.  Not going to spoil anything though.  Everyone will have to wait.

I also have two other experimental videos that I want to do this summer.  These videos I'm considering my main goals for the summer.  I'm very excited about them, but not revealing anything yet.  Actually one thing I can.  One of the videos will include the glandes I got from SiliconeSword.

Make it to Ibiza is also on the list.

A few years ago I was slinging practically every day, usually twice a day.  I've slacked a good bit on that.  The only thing on my list would be to get back to where I was practice wise, with daily slinging.

At the absolute top of my list is to get a fist-sized stone from the Valley of Elah where David killed Goliath.
Meeting in person with folks here is definitely on my bucket list.
Texas Sling Fest is another… I want to do a big attraction event of sorts. Lots of ideas but none fully formed yet.
After that, I want to work out a  solid theory for accuracy that allows for consistent hits on target without years of rote repetitive practice.

I've got a few long term goals at the moment:

- Get a perfect round (hit the diana 5 times in a row) in one of Practical Paracord's online slinging competitions.
- Cast a whistling lead sling-bullet.
- Make a "slinging club" of some sort
- Finish the game I've recently started making (It features the sling)

Also, Mersa, if you ever end up making an aussie slingfest, I'd be more than happy to join!

I'm sure I can come up with a few more trick shots. Shooting a hole in a coin is done. What I definitely want to do more of is play sling kubb. Cool

Jaegoor, Do you use a standard 8 x 5m court for sling kubb or do you make it larger?

My version of kubb is played at 10 to 15m. It is quite challenging. You play on two levels. You therefore need a corresponding construction. You start on the upper level. The aim is to beat your pieces as quickly as possible. If your opponent hits a piece,  then he puts it on your lower level. Your upper level is now blocked. You have to clear the lower level first. Not easy. But it's a lot of fun. Here is a video. https://youtu.be/7pyHwCPTB2A?si=5XCtbshAmonmApQJ

Hmmm....
I didn't do very well with my list.  I did the staff sling stuff, and made it to Ibiza.  Everything else is still open.

I did have another goal that came to mind recently.  I can't mention it here (at the moment) because it was something I wanted to do in Channing's weekly PP comp.  And I did it today when recording my rounds.

I might have another go at the paper plane challenge soon.  I do want to get that hit.  I need to find a better plane design though.  For the other attempt I just searched online for the farthest flying plane and used the world record design.  It's flies well, but only with a perfect throw.  Wind is a big pain too.  I need a design that's a little more forgiving if the throw isn't perfect.

Or you need a gymnasium, that would take care of the wind problem.

That would be sweet.  I'm not aware of one around me other than schools though.  I can imagine that.  Going into the school and asking, "Would it be possible for me to access the gymnasium during non-school hours so I can try to hit a paper airplane with a sling and a tennis ball?".  Grin

Not sure if they'd just ask me to leave, or have me committed.

I think I'd just like to get good enough to play Kubb Mr Jaegoor's way. At the moment it would seem like a luck fest.
