Sling Hunting practice challenge “HeadHunter Level @ 13m”
Nov 16th, 2022 at 11:41am

How many shots to hit a 1.5”x1.5” target at 13m? I just did it on the 95th shot. Will post the 3 uncut videos of all 95 shots in a bit.  But here is a link to a short of the money shot
https://youtube.com/shorts/naBMj02sDww?feature=share
Uncut but speed up 2x to b under 15mins enjoy.

Cool, I look forward to it. I’m getting ready to try 20m same target size. I’m just waiting for a bit warmer day. I’m keeping my eyes open for a turkey while I’m out squirrel hunting. Never know an old blind squirrel might crack a turkey upside the head.

2nd attempt at HeadHunter Challenge my new record 13 shots@ 13m. Here is the link to the full unedited video at normal speed because it only took me around 5mins to hit the target. Enjoy and good luck on topping that score.

Sure is, I’m trying to hone my skills, so as to try and hit a turkey in the head after calling it into range. Oh ya the blindsquirrell looking for some Christmas turkey🎯. U guys were talking about rating one on hitting a coin, I think this is just as good of a start for everyone let’s c what everyone can do, come on and summit a try or few.  Oh ya these r 80gram rocks they will easily kill rabbits and squirrels, I think even body shots. Judging from the impacts with the different wooden blocks and the damage that was done this weight is more than enough, it would definitely crack a skull or bones could even rupture a organ on a body shot. Any heavier ammo would b destroy the game animal and u would not getting any good meat from the kill. OVERKILL.

Well I got heavily humbled on this one.

Thought I’ll start with hex nuts . Bad call , not only are they tiny to begin with but I was having scary moments with wild releases. Easily over 200+ shots no hits .
Ok I’ll move on to rocks . Nope. Bouncing them over the fence became old and shading the rock I finally adjust too. Again another 200+ shots easily.
So for the want to get it done without too much destruction I moved to a 95g rubber ball. Another potentially 200+shots
Then I had this recording. I won’t bother with any other footage
Gonna say it was appropriately a hour long session but I actually didn’t check the time.

This type of precision needs good quality ammunition. Or some magic luck combined with skill.
Definitely a hard challenge but glad it didn’t completely conquer me .

I really like this rubber ball and wonder if it would be enough to stun a rabbit.

Awesome, that was a nice shot. If feels so good when u hit that little target, now imagine if u were hungry and made that shot how elated u would b. I’ve gotten the 1.5” block of wood 2 times, I hit a quail egg yesterday the link is over on the egg challenge thread and next I’m going for a 5/32in washer hanging or maybe a 1/4” steel ball, still at 13m. This really show what it would take to hunt with these.

Small ammo and small targets are a recipe for a difficult shot.
I think hunting there’s some advantage to missing low. I had alot of bottle hits and a few bouncer shots that hit the mark and a few ricochet off the wall behind. Given your throwing decent speeds and weights a bounce shot could still be effective. I’ve had a few stalks on rabbits lately but  got nothing in proper range.

Remember rabbits naturally behavior is run around in big circles
to confuse the sent trail, til they get back to there den and can slip the predator.  So even if the rabbit is not in range use ur less desirable rocks to throw out and away from the rabbit to make it move (herd it)into a better position. I’ve not seen any rabbits but turkey season in upon us, and I’m good at calling turkeys. Any game with a sling will b amazing but a turkey would b so cool.

I’d love to hunt turkey with a bow or sling .
The rabbits around me a super skiddish. Only get one shot usually and they’re gone . Had one in range last night but didn’t get the shot off . Just as I was about to go into my throw it spotted me and was outta there . Got about 10m away on the stalk . Was a missed opportunity for sure .
