Help: Making a 5 strand sling, stuck on how to proceed w/ the split pouch.

I have 6 strings per strand on the retention cord so I know I need to pair together groups of 3 to make the new split pouch sides, just having trouble figuring out which pairs to group together.

Here are two ways:

1. https://slinging.org/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1382647725

2. https://youtu.be/XAllExyVw6I

Both are good. Just an FYI, you may want to put questions like this in the 'ASK QUESTIONS HERE' thread in the future. You could get more replies because more people have notifications setup when posts happen there.

Thanks, I tried the first tutorial you mentioned but I believe there are some missing steps/errors when it comes to making the pouch because I tried following that one exactly and my pouch was not coming together correctly (or maybe I'm just bad).

I'll take a look at the second video, I haven't come across that tutorial before.

It is written poorly. To put in other words:
1. Only plait half of each group
2. On your fourth and fifth group, place them third from the top instead of on the bottom like you normally would.

Then you will have two sets of five. On the left side, you will have three strands in your left hand and two in your right. On the right side it is the opposite. If you braid the strands with this setup in each hand, you will have the nice 'x' shaped knee everyone likes.
