To start you're gonna want some wool/cordage/string/etc. and about a 12 meters dash of it.
Cut it into 6 pieces each the overall length of the sling. Ie for a 1 meter sling folded it will be 2 meters overall.

1.     now take the 6 pieces and just for now you're going to treat them as one. Tie a loop at the end of one and slip this over a door knob or something. this is just to keep tension while we braid and we will cut off the loop later.

2.    next step is to split it into 3 groups of even size. If you're following along perfectly you should have groups of 2.

3.   Now braid those groups in a 3 strand plait. exactly the same as with a girls hair. Do this for 2.5cm (keep tension or it will look weird at the end ).

4.    Now split it again into 2 groups of 3 strands each. braid one group about 2cm long and then do the same with the other group. This will form your finger loop

5.   After this combine the two separate groups and keep braiding like in step 2 and 3. braid until you get to where you want the pouch to be.

6.   Now the this is pretty much the same as step 3 Split into 2 groups and braid each for about 10-15cm. then combine the 2 groups and continue braiding.

7.    Keep braiding until your sling is at an appropriate length

8.  Finish off with a granny knot, cut off the loop that went around the doorknob for tension tie a grip knot wherever it needs to be and your done


ps if it looks too lose its because you didn't keep tension well enough and it won't stay together nice


There might be other similar tutorials to this on the forum and they are probably better but this way is just so easy. Ive heard of people taking 3hours making a sling.  This takes me roughly 15-30 minutes.  This sling is simple.  I am by no means an expert sling maker and most of my slings involve a piece of leather type thingy with holes in it plus some rope type thingy through those holes. From my experience as long as a sling works it  should work well.
