I wanted to see what a patch made black on grey would look like and try embroidering the main field.
The patch has no presence to look at in hand. Had in mind battle colours. Have to walk up close to see what it is.
The photo is yellow shifted as it is before sunset here.
Same pattern as the first patch. base layer a plain weave cotton.

These patches look great David.  I do like the one with the red slinger better.  It stands out a lot more as you mentioned.  The quality in this one still looks really good.

Do you think you'll ever make some of these to sell?

Hi joe_meadmaker.
Thank you for your kind remarks.
I agree, red on black is better.
Both patches are a first time effort for me.
There is room for improvement.

Your inquiry about selling is high praise indeed.
I am not offering patches for sale. Guess I didn't expect to either.

They were made to satisfy my own interest about patches. I have no idea about cost. As I say it takes me most of the day to hand make one of these.

I want to do a 2" circular patch. Red on black denim.

David

It's all good man.  I was just curious.  Sometimes crafts can take so long to make that there isn't any way to put a value on it.

They do look cool.  Looking forward to see what else you come up with.

Cheers buddy!

The image on the patch in this thread is either reversed, or that's the back of the patch ?
But the sling should be on the other hand and behind the slingers head.

Other than setting off my 'something wrong with that image' alarm, looks great Smiley

Hey guys,
Us south paws think the sling is in the correct hand. Smiley
I was reading somewhere most ancient slingers were left handed. Don't know, wasn't there.

I wanted to catch the slinger just before stepping forward to release. Tension of the moment. Illustration artists use this idea.
See N.C. Wyeth's work. (Pinterest is a good place to look.)

Cheers,
David
