Hey guys, wanted to post this pic of this 500 grain/32 gram projectiles for purchase. Here it is. The company name is in the pic, they sniper bullets for reloading. Just heavy enough to be perfect.

Edit: sorry about the giant pic, it's my first time posting a pic.

Edit2: the price is in sets of I believe 25. So 50 rounds for $180

MS Paint makes it pretty easy to resize your pictures.
Yes, they look awesome.  Have you tried them yet?

I'll bet a .50BMG would make a nifty projectile, too.

That shape will tumble unless you release perfect.
Weight is on the lower end of most people’s preference.
And price is on the higher end.

Pretty expensive 😬 I'd rather a 10kg bag of smooth white rocks from Bunnings for $15.

   Tumbling is my concern also.

Dang. I just gather rocks from my yard, or the gravel pit swimming hole near my place. I guess I need to remember that it is lucky to have an abundance of good stones here

Rocks are pretty hard to beat when economy and environment are taken into consideration. Maybe ice wins on a weird technicality or clay . But paying for ammo that can be lost is not a slingers best interest

If you want to throw metal balls, fishing sinkers are perfect. It exists in a shape of an egg.
I threw 50-gram egg-shaped pellets.
Waouh, impressive and be careful ! You enter a new world.

Yes, egg sinkers make excellent ammo but lead isn't cheap.  I'm fortunate enough to also live in an area, South Jersey, where excellent, oval shaped white river stones are everywhere.  You can't beat free.

I envy you.   My cost-free "natural" ammo is the irregular stones on my local Amtrak roadbed.   I wish I had access to nice oval shaped river stones instead.

Sadly no, I just spent 90 bucks on 1 inch, 66.3 gram steel ball bearings (100 of them) and don't want to buy more expensive ammo atm lol. However I do plan too, and with the steel I'm reaching 150 meters roughly on UPHILL shots, so first I'm gonna try to get really acclimated to the balls before I try anything the requires rifling since I'm still pretty new to slinging. I think I could beat my record of 169 meters on a flat surface with these pretty easily and can't wait to try!

Where did you find 1" steel balls?   I've never been able to find any that size.

If you want cheap ammo similar to this, grab some mild steel round bar (20mm) and cut it into 50m lengths. You can even shorpen them. 10mm round bar works well too. Cheap as.

Lead is cheap in Australia. Paying $2 per kilo at the moment. Gets me around 15 good sized round balls when I do some casting.

I tried using ~1.5" pieces of re-bar for slingshot ammo a few years ago.   It took forever to cut the pieces by hand with a hacksaw and the ammo was more erratic than it was consistent.   It was another of my well-intentioned ideas that didn't work out.
